Club Meetings (unless otherwise posted) are on the second Wednesday of each month at the Batavia Public Library (Located at the S. East corner of Rt. 31 and Wilson St.)

26th Annual North Shore Century

Details:

Sunday, 6 am.
The EBC is celebrating the 26th anniversary of their ride with a special edition bike jersey. The ride starts from Dawes Park, Evanston (Church St. & Sheriden Rd.), and is highlighted as the last ride of the summer. Choose from 25, 50, 62 or 100 miles that tour the ritzy neighborhoods of Chicago's north shore. The cost of registration is now $25.

Sub-5 Century Challenge Ride

Details:

Sunday, 7 am.
The Sub-5 Century Challenge ride starts from Hampshire High School on Big Timber Rd., and is a fund raising event for Parkinson's disease. This ride provides one every opportunity to complete the fastest century of one's life. The field is divided into groups no larger than 25 riders, and allowed to start at 3-minute intervals. Each group then rides the course as a mini peleton.

Registration is $50 on-line by August 31st. Riders have the option of canvassing for invidividual sponsorships. All funds raised are donated to the Paul Ruby Foundation.

Tri Smart 101: Get Schooled - Charity ride

Details:

Sunday, 7 am.
Tri Smart 101: Get Schooled will be our inaugural supported century ride. Hosted by Team Tri Smart, this event honors the memory of our friend and fellow triathlete Michelle Chaput. Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund. Routes of 25, 40, 60 and 101 miles along low-traffic roads will be marked and maps will be available. You can count on rest stops roughtly every 20 miles with beverages and snacks, as well as SAG support. The ride starts and ends at: Lincoln Way West High School 21701 S. KCGC 8 am, Pace: C/D 100 miles out to Rochelle, IL and back. Multiple Gas Station stops out and back and lunch at Culvers. This is a mostly flat route on the country roads in Kane and DeKalb county.

  1. The advertised pace indicates the average speed. This includes the effects of hills, wind, stop signs, and traffic lights etc. To maintain an average pace, one's speed over a flat smooth surface will be 2 - 4 mph faster.
  2. Some events are weather dependent!
  3. For "No Call/No Ride," events, call the assigned event leader to inform them you'll be joining the ride. Members can consult the newsletter for telephone numbers. Non-members are welcome. Just turn up and introduce yourself. If you have questions, you can contact the ride leader or Ride Director by e-mail.
