Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the scenic views from the bluffs of Mississippi Palisades State Park with its massive outcroppings of dolomite formations and more. Please bring your road bike for this ride. Saturday we will start at 9:30 A.M. and ride 20 miles south to Fulton on the flat river trail, stopping to see the scenic lock and dam and wildlife viewing area along the way. We will have lunch in Fulton and visit the Authentic Dutch Windmill and quaint village of Heritage Canyon (admission $2.00) and return by late afternoon. We will eat in a recommended Italian restaurant that night. Please let me know in advance if you would like to be included in the dinner reservation. For those arriving on Friday, please feel free to join us for an informal dinner at the infamous Poopy’s Pub & Grub & Tattoo Parlor. Please call Terri for directions to Poopy’s. Sunday, we will begin at 9:00 a.m., making a loop from Savanna to Hanover, the Mallard Duck Capital of the World. It will be a challenge to make the initial ascent to the top of the bluff, but once we are on the bluffs above Mississippi Palisades State Park, the road will become relatively flat. The descent into Hanover contains some of the most beautiful views in Illinois. Total mileage on Sunday will be less than 40 due to the terrain. We have ten rooms on hold at the beautiful Super 8 Motel at 101 Valley View Drive in Savanna. This is straight out Route 64 from St. Charles. Rooms are reserved under Fox Valley Bicycle Club at the rate of $76.50 per night for Friday and Saturday nights. The motel provides free breakfast and an indoor pool. The rooms are on hold until August 3. Please call (815) 273-2288 to reserve your room. Camping is available at Mississippi Palisades State Park, 16327A Rte. 84, (815) 273-2731.
