HomeSwedish Days Ride Canceled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our concern for the health of all those involved with hosting and participating in our annual ride, this year's event has been cancelled.

Annual Swedish Days Ride

SWEDISH DAYS RIDE Illinois June 28 2020

It is with great regret that the Fox Valley Bicycle & Ski Club (FVBSC) has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Swedish Days Ride (June 28) due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.  During this pandemic and always, the safety and health of our participants, vendors, partners, and volunteers is paramount.

The Swedish Days Ride has been a trusted and respected Illinois invitational for 50 consecutive years; this cancellation is unprecedented in our history.  We made this decision based upon scientific data, guidance provided by the WHO, CDC and USA Cycling, and our commitment to upholding our club’s mission “to promote SAFE bicycling and cross-country skiing, and to enjoy and respect our precious natural outdoor environment.”

Our top priority has been, and continues to be, the well-being of our biking community.  Although social distancing is possible on bicycles, our concerns centered around registration, rest stops and SAG where people could gather too closely, potentially contaminating each other.  We would hate to contribute to the spread of COVID-19.

Whether you are a regular Swedish Days Rider or signed up for the first time this year, FVBSC would like to THANK YOU for your support and understanding. Although the event is listed as non-refundable, we appreciate your loyalty and will be issuing a full refund (event, apparel and ClubExpress processing fee) via check to the address listed on your registration.  Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

Please save the date for next year's Swedish Days Ride, tentatively scheduled for Sunday June 27, 2021.  Same great ride, same great riders!  We will bring our planned “riders through the corn” jersey back next year.
