Event supporting International Women's Day (IWD) in combination with Elmhurst Bike Club. All genders invited to ride 35 miles at 12-14 MPH pace from St. Charles to Wheaton and back. Guests welcome (2 ride max). This is a no drop ride.
(NOTE, given that this is our first ride of the season, 35 miles at this pace may be ambitious for some. Consider riding half the distance and getting picked up in Wheaton (or vice versa) and don't worry about the pace, it is a no drop ride and sweeps will be at back to ensure everyone's safety).
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
In some countries it is still illegal for women to ride a bicycle and a bicycle is a catalyst for women to rise out of poverty. bring freedom to women in developing countries, breaking down transportation and safety barriers historically keeping girls from accessing education.
