Let’s go meet at the Axletree!
Saturday, June 5th
This ride is gritty, gravely, and requires guts. With the route being 60 to 70 percent gravel and away from just about any resupply stations it adds a level of toughness. With a 1 mile grass section at mile 57, just for the fun of it.
Let's get gritty!
I'm currently a slow gravel grinder and will probably finish between 12 and 14 mph average. Using this route to train my gravel legs and hoping for some mates to come along for the ride.
Clip in at 8.
No Drop (as if I could drop anyone).
Route
We will have 2 planned rest stops:
The first will be at mile 22 in the Chief Shabbona Forrest Preserve that has shelters and bathrooms (I think).
The second at about mile 42 near a wind farm and a bridge. No bathrooms.
*We ride rain or shine. Except in cases of lightning or flash flood warnings. That call will be made as a game day decision at the parking lot.
*This is a fully self supported ride with no concession stops along the way. Bring all the food and water you require to finish.
*Use the Lone Grove Forest Preserve entrance off Perry Road. I've seen google misspell this entrance as Long Grove...just FYI.
*You can contact me via text at 312 493 6883, or email at erik.hanig@att.net if you have any questions.
