About this event
8:00am Intermediate 14-16 MPH Ride
NW 52 mi Route
Our Most Popular Ride of the Week!
Are you looking for a solid yet conversational ride? This Intermediate No Drop ride features an average pace of 14-16 MPH on any combination of trails, neighborhood streets and country roads that may include some elevation and casual/basic pacelines from time to time, at the discretion of the ride leader. For those new to basic pace lines, the ride leader will guide you through the process. Rides will be mostly flat'ish, but there may be some climbing from time to time!
Mileage will increase throughout the season. Depending upon the ride distance, there may be one or multiple rest stops generally at a gas station or convenience store. This is a No Drop ride, but you will be expected to be able to maintain an overall ride average speed of 14-16 MPH (we will ride faster than 16mph at times and slower than 14mph at times, but the overall ride average will be 14-16mph). Everyone needs to have the ride course on their GPS/phone and/or a printout of map and cue sheet.
Safety is our top priority! Please be familiar with our cycling rules and consider taking the Bike Safety Quiz to enhance your safety knowledge.
Registration is required (click REGISTER NOW box), helmets and rear lights are required, front lights and high visibility apparel are recommended especially early and late in the season when we encounter darkness, dress in layers. Please bring water and snacks, have your bicycle in good working order, and arrive 10-15 minutes before our scheduled departure time.
Please bring a change of clothes as many of us will plan post-ride meal and rehydration at Burnt Barrel Social, 799 Heartland Dr, Sugar Grove, IL.
Alternating Ride Leaders - Jeff Lotito, Jason Fair, Renee Kawecki, Tom Babel, and Steve Moran
