Advocacy

Over the years, proceeds from Fox Valley Bicycle & Ski Club’s Annual Swedish Days Ride have been donated to numerous organizations whose missions relate to improving local, state and national cycling safety and riding conditions; assisting people with special needs gain access to cycling; and preserving and enhancing natural resources in Northern Illinois.

 

In 2018, the following organizations were recipients of over $9,000 in donations from FVBSC.

League of American Bicyclists


For generations past and to come, THE LEAGUE represents bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a bicycle-friendly America. Through information, advocacy and promotion, we work to celebrate and preserve the freedom cycling brings to our members everywhere

Active Transportation Alliance


Active Trans is a coalition of people who are working to make biking, walking and transit safe and easy options for getting around Chicagoland.

Ride Illinois


Ride Illinois is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving bicycling conditions throughout the state. We are the advocate for all Illinois bicyclists, promoting bicycle access, education, and safety.  We’re working statewide for better bicycling, so you can get out there and Ride Illinois. Illinois Prairie Path


The Illinois Prairie Path is a multi-use nature trail for non-motorized public use. It spans approximately 61 miles in Cook, DuPage and Kane Counties in northeastern Illinois. A former right-of-way for the old Chicago Aurora & Elgin electric railroad, it was the first U.S. rail-to-trail conversion in the nation in the 1960’s

Rails to Trails Conservancy


Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors to build healthier places for healthier people

Project Mobility


The Mission of Project Mobility is to make a positive difference in the lives of children, adults and wounded soldiers with disabilities. We provide the services, resources, and equipment needed to promote better health, independence, and the freedom of mobility through adaptive cycling
