Labor Day ride with Carrie -- CANCELED

CANCELLED due to forecasted rain

This is a leisurely 34-mile trail ride 13-14 MPH on the Jane Addams Trail from Freeport to the Badger Trail at the Wisconsin border. Features include 22 bridges including the historic Van Buren Bridge across the Pecatonica River, erected in 1885, and a Covered Bridge outside of Orangeville. Bordered by the Pecatonica River, Richland Creek and Cedar Creek. Travels through historic downtown Freeport, the Old River School Historic District Neighborhood, and past natural wetlands, old oak woods, grassland prairies, exposed rock embankments, active farms, and several small communities as well as the Village of Orangeville. Meal stop in Orangeville. Part of the Grand Illinois Trail that traverses northern Illinois from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River.

If the group wants to continue further north on the Badger Trail into Wisconsin for a bit, we can decide on the spot to break into groups, but please note Wisconsin charges a trail fee. This is a 40-mile trail to Madison.

Lunch stop at Cedar Inn with outdoor seating in beer garden.

In accordance with Restore Illinois Phase 4 guidelines, Minimum Social Distancing rules must be followed (strongly recommend more than 6 feet while riding)

Any riders wanting to join must text me (630-567-2300) prior to 8:00 PM Saturday night confirming they wish to ride
