MCBC (McHenry County Bicycle Club) has invited FVBSC to their winter event to enjoy the trails at Glacial Park (north of McHenry) on Sat Feb 27 10am-12:30 (approx). This is a great opportunity to explore 5 mi of trails in park for hiking, snowshoeing, xc skiing (easy, groomed for classic, or hilly trail). You may want to climb the Camelback Kame. Prairie Trail (by park entrance) is suitable for fat tire biking. Indoor restrooms. Meet the friendly folks from MCBC--organizers over 3 decades of the “Udder Century." Lake County Bicycle Club is also invited.
MCBC is providing the fire and supplies for hot cocoa/cider and s’mores on the outdoor terrace (SW corner) of the Lost Valley Visitor Center.
Bring—your MASK, snow equipment, poles or hiking stick, BYO stick for marshmallows (distanced roasting). Hikers may need traction devices on your boots. Follow Phase 4 COVID guidelines.
When you RSVP, let me know if you want me to bring snowshoes for you (adult size, older model), or if you plan to fat tire bike (so I can tell MCBC.)
Please note-Limit 10 members FVBSC-Priority will be given to those who registered for original Feb 6 event which was rescheduled due to extreme weather. (PLEASE RE-REGISTER FOR THIS NEW DATE.) Other members may register if interested (by 2/18),and I will let you know 2/21 if there is room depending on RSVP's from the other 2 clubs.

WHEN: Saturday February 27, 2021 (snow or shine – will be cancelled if rain)
WHERE: McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD) Glacial Park
Outdoor terrace at Southwest corner of Lost Valley Visitor Center

TIMELINE: Facility opens at 10 AM
10:15 AM – Hike (spikes and sticks suggested), Snowshoe, cross country ski or bike
11:45 AM – Fire, roasting marshmallows and warm drinks
TREATS: MCBC will provide cups, hot water, cocoa/cider packets, S’more ingredients.
BRING: Your Own marshmallow roasting stick (or find a branch)
COVID THINGS TO KNOW: As of 2/4/21 Lost Valley Visitor Center restrooms are open. MCCD policy currently limits number of people within building at one time to 20.
Other unheated restrooms are available and open along the park trails (see map).
