Join us for a fun and enjoyable bike ride through DeKalb and Kane Counties and support the historic Egyptian Theatre at the same time. Your participation in “Ride Like An Egyptian” benefits the Egyptian Theatre, operated by the non-profit organization Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Egyptian Theatre is a fully restored 1929 Egyptian-themed art deco movie palace and vaudeville house.
The ride begins and ends at the Egyptian Theatre, so you will have the opportunity to explore this historic landmark. This bike ride offers four mix-n-match 25-mile loops. Loop 1 starts at the Egyptian Theatre (135 N. 2nd Street, DeKalb, IL) and goes east to Maple Park, IL. From the Maple Park central rest stop, you can ride any (or all) of three 25-mile loops before returning to the Egyptian Theatre. All participants will be provided with route maps and all routes will be marked with signs.
The ride utilizes a central rest stop for all routes. The central rest stop is located in Maple Park. It is indoors with air conditioning/heat and real restrooms. We stock the rest stop with lots of snacks, fruit, water and Gatorade. Ride Like An Egyptian NOTE: We post this ride as a courtesy for those club members interested in cycling events. This is not a club sponsored event. If interested in attending and you want to see if others are interested, we can list you as the ride leader. Always check out the web link for the most up to date information! We list what we know on the date we add to the FVBSC calendar; but we do not regularly check back to see if anything has changed since the original posting.
